Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the most important food donation charities in Nashville. Hunger is a growing problem in the United States, with over 35 million Americans unsure of where they will get their next meal.
Often these very people have next door neighbors with overflowing refrigerators. Second Harvest helps put the people and businesses with surpluses of food get in touch with those who don't have any.
It should be noted that it is children that suffer the most, from malnutrition and stunted growth at the very least, when they cannot find a regular source of food. In Middle Tennessee alone 47% of those served at Second Harvest are children.
Second Harvest needs help in all forms, volunteers to help at meal time, food donations, financial assistance, and help with the many organizational aspects are all needed.
